I stared at my phone since we last departed
And that was an hour ago
I do this every time.
But I’m not sure what to expet
Because the silence is almost consoling
Another day I don’t have to explain
exactly what I’m feeling
Because even if you called me
I wouldn’t know what to say
Other than, “I love you. Please be with me.
Why don’t you love me the same?”
And I don’t think I want anyone to see me this way
You see love is as vulnerable and naked as it sounds
And the rawness of it leaves
a bad taste in everyone’s mouth
No ones wants the ugly, depressing, or pathetic
But love isn’t
Stone, diamond, or iron
Love is a wine glass
traveling on the waves
that crash against a rocky island
And when that wave pulled back into the ocean
is my love intact?
Or has the chaos destroyed it?
Aren’t hearts more pure when we admit
that we are fragile?
And love that much more genuine
when exposed to all of it’s flaws?
You see, I stared at my phone since we last departed
And that was months ago
I do this every time.
But I’m not sure what to expect
Because the silence is almost consoling
Another day I don’t have to explain
Exactly what I’m feeling
